Key Features and Operation

The main components work in unison:
- Control Circuit/Microprocessor: Acts as the "brain," continuously monitoring the input and output voltage levels and comparing them to a preset nominal value.
- Servo Motor: When the control circuit detects a voltage deviation, it sends a signal to the servo motor. The motor then rotates in the appropriate direction (clockwise or anti-clockwise).
- Variable Transformer (Variac/Dimmer): The servo motor is mechanically linked to the a carbon brush on the variable transformer. As the motor moves the brush, it changes the number of windings in the circuit, which in turn increases or decreases the voltage supplied to the buck-boost transformer.
- Buck-Boost Transformer: This transformer is connected in series with the main power supply. It either adds (boosts) or subtracts (bucks) the voltage as needed to achieve the required stable output voltage.
